Letters to the Ethical Spectacle

Spectacle Letters Column Guidelines. If you write to me about something you read in the Spectacle, I will assume the letter is for publication. If it is not, please tell me, and I will respect that. If you want the letter published, but without your name attached, I will do so. I will not include your email address unless you ask me to. This is in response to many of you who have expressed concern that spammers are finding your email address here. Flames are an exception. T hey will be published in full, with name and email address. I have actually had people follow up on a published flame by complaining that they thought they were insulting my ancestry privately. Nope, sorry.
You sir have the most liberal article, it sucks and I can’t use it for my own research paper about how all terrorists are Palestinians.

Dear Jonathan,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and ideas. I stumbled upon spectacle.org tonight while expanding my understanding on theories of Commons. I am glad I did. I have, for a long time, found an intellectual affinity for libertarian ideas, but have never been able to fully commit, lock, stock and barrel. The implications of some ideas taken to their logical extents, are, to me, distasteful if not unacceptable, while at the same time, the premises are fully agreeable and even desireable. As if to say, "If it's the 'RIGHT' thing to do, why does it feel 'WRONG'?"

You strike an appreciated balance between the optimism and cleanliness of theory and the often clumsy and sometimes nasty inevitabilities of implementing an ideal.

Thank you for provoking thought. Keep it coming.

Cheers

Dear Mr. Wallace:

I appreciated your article on Into Thin Air. It was thoughtful and well written and I agree with you.

My brother was a climber and died in an avalanche. He climbed Rainer but never took Everest. Anyway thanks again.

Dear Mr. Wallace:

I read your article on Craigslist. I couldnt agree with you more.. Ive been searching the reasons behind Craigslist ghostings and blocking. I believe they are using some outside source to do this and allow the common users to flag. A double edge sword killing my needs on Craigslist. My question to you is have you heard anything about this outside filter source Craigslist uses?
