Inquisition on the Net
The Church of Scientology is a bit paranoid. Under the teachings of their former leader L. Ron Hubbard (a former science fiction writer), CoS has been using strong-arm tactics to stifle ALL anti-church discussion on the Net. So when ex-scientologists began posting excerpts and full tracts of high level, "sacred" scriptures, the church began litigation with furious energy.
The church has used primarily copyright law to shut down servers and infiltrate anonymous remailers worldwide. This has drawn the ire of Netizens worldwide who see this as a form of censorship and a blatant attack on the Internet. Although CoS does raise some real copyright issues, some of the proceedings are more bizarre than the strangest science fiction.
